About the service

IPTools is a free set of networking tools. The home page instantly shows your public IP address, ISP and approximate connection location. The data comes from Cloudflare’s geo database running on the network node closest to you, so detection takes a fraction of a second and no requests are sent to third-party servers.

Also available: whois information for IP addresses and domains, DNS record lookup, open port checking, an IP subnet calculator and details about your browser.

FAQ

What is an IP address?

An IP address is a unique numeric identifier of a device on the internet. Both IPv4 addresses (e.g. 192.0.2.1) and IPv6 addresses (e.g. 2001:db8::1) are in use today.

How do I find my IP address?

Just open this page — your public IP address is detected automatically and shown at the top, together with your ISP, country and city.

How is a public IP different from a private one?

A public (external) IP is visible to every website and is assigned by your ISP. A private one (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x and the like) is used only inside a home or office network and cannot be seen from the internet.

Why is the detected city inaccurate?

IP geolocation is always approximate: an address is tied to an ISP’s network, not to your device. For addresses in Russia we refine the city using a separate DB-IP database; for other countries we use Cloudflare’s geo database. Mobile and corporate networks may show the provider’s hub city rather than your actual location.

Do you store my IP address?

No. We keep no logs and store no request history: the data is shown only to you in your browser and is never written anywhere.
